Working on loading G'paw's recipie for G'paw's 1982 Win Mod 70 XTR Sporter 30-06. He used 54.3 of 748. I'll be using around 53gr of some of this IMR 4064 from WAAY back when it was $20/lb. Gonna have to wait till next weekend to test. The neighborhood frowns upon me load testing

Yes, 6.8 western. Loading for my buddy's new gun. Looks like it's going to be pretty accurate but the velocities so far are running about 100fps slower than published load data. Published data is from a 24" barrel and his gun is a 24" barrel.

Loaded some test loads for my 10 gauge and then some with the 12 gauge with brass hulls.

10ga, 31/2" = 28 grains 800x, OP card+1/2" fibre wad, about 17cc oatmeal filler-OS card, about 1 5/8 ounce #9 shot-roll crimp. Stout but hit the steel hard.

Still have to test these with Magtech brass hulls.

12 = 100gr APP, OP card+1'2" fibre wad, 1ou #9 shot, os card glued in
75gr APP, OP card+1'2" fibre wad, 1ou #9 shot, os card glued in
15gr pulled 16 ga powder (unknown), OP card+1'2" fibre wad, 1ou #9 shot, os card glued in

Finally got back to the bench. Cleaned and resized some 35 REM and 308 from the last range trip. Loaded up 40 308s with H4895 and CCI200 primers and 155 grain HPBTs. These run about 2820 FPS from my REM 700. Have another 60 to top with 168 grain HPBTs. The 35 Rems will get a 200 grain RN and LVR for about 2100 FPS. Felt good to pull the handle a bit tonight.

Which 200gr. Round nose you using? Bout the only thing to find is hornady interlocks.

Fixing to start cranking em out again. This time 80 grain Barnes solid copper. Using CFE pistol but upping the charge 2 tenths. These light bullets need heavier charges to cycle reliably I notice. My 308 110vmax needed more also. Loaded 100 and most fired fine but about 8 failed to cycle the bolt all the way. The pistol rounds don’t eject far enough to my liking so that’s why I’m going to max charge.
