What did you load today

Time to get started on some carry ammo for the 45:
230 grain Hornady XTP, Federal cases, CCI large pistol primers, 5.7 grains of W231, 1.25" C.O.L. (I did have to go a little tighter on the crimp after putting these in the chamber checker).

Ended up with these plus 29 that I couldn't wait to get loaded.

Still didn't get to load any, but the 100 pieces of .223 brass I cleaned the other day are now trimmed, primer pockets cleaned and swaged, primed, and ready to be loaded.

Now I just gotta get with Randy and get some CFE223....

Got 50 rounds of .223 loaded so far this morning -- time to reward myself with cake, and then load some more!

55 grain, .224" diameter FMJ, mixed brass, 26.6 grains of CFE223, Winchester small rifle primer, 2.20" C.O.L.

200 rounds of .45 ACP -- 230 grain, 0.452" diameter lead RN over 5.7 grains of W231, CCI LPP, 1.24" C.O.L.

Maybe same as this? Its where I put rounds that don't pass muster, split or damaged cases, etc.

200 rounds of plinking ammo for me and Bobcat -- 0.224" diameter, 55 grain FMJ's over 26.6 grains of CFE223, Winchester SRP, with a 2.20" C.O.L.



Plus 100 more rounds of .45 ACP.

Another 200 rounds of 0.224" diameter, 55 grain FMJ's over 26.6 grains of CFE223, with Winchester SRP, 2.20" C.O.L, plinking ammo. Dirty brass and all!

Loaded 100 of these to try before hunting season (0.224" diameter, 55 grain soft point, 26.6 grains of CFE223, Winchester small rifle primer, 2.20" C.O.L).



Wanted to leave the C.O.L. the same on these as my plinking ammo, which left a little of the cannelure showing.


Gonna order some 53 grain Barnes TSX, 65 grain Sierra Game King, and 69 grain Sierra TMK bullets to try.

Loaded up the last of the 185 grain bullets I got from Subgunfan. Retesting this bullet (if this rain ever lets up!) to see which powder weight the Rock Island likes best. Did (05) each at 5.4 grains, 5.5 grains, 5.7 grains, and 6.0 grains. REALLY hoping the 5.7 grain load comes out on top -- sure would be nice to be able to have the same powder measurement for 230 grain and 185 grain.

SubGunFan, if you have any charge recommendations for the other bullets you gave me, I sure would appreciate it. I'm sure you told me at the M&G, but I can't remember.

194 (57 SP, 137 FMJ) 0.224" diameter, 55 grain boolit, 26.6 grains of CFE223, Winchester small rifle primer, 2.20" C.O.L. (tried some SP and FMJ at 2.23", 2.24", 2.25", and 2.26" -- my rifle DOES NOT like those lengths. Gonna stick with 2.20")

Time to get over to Southern Reloading's place. Need bullets, primers, and powder!
