Converting some 270 and 30-06 brass to 7.65 Argentine.

Very cool. How long does it take to make one casing of your 7.65 Argentine ?
Just curious.
Cowart's may have some PPU 7.65 Argentine in stock. I know he had some a couple of months ago.

Now, you know half the fun is making your own LOL.

Thanks, but truth be told, I have about 80 rounds of PPU but I just can’t stand to shoot factory hardly anymore. I’ll slowly shoot it but going ahead and doing this so I can work on some hand loads that are fine tuned for the rifle.

To answer Hotrod, it’s no more trouble than converting 06 to 8 mm. I just chop it to a close length so it won’t outgrow the die length, lube and resize, then trim. Annealing is probably needed but I’ll wait and see how these last.

What did I load today? Nothing, but on break from checkering, I did study the Nosler manual for loads for a new 6.5x55 that is near completion.

Loaded another 150 rounds of 2 1/2" 16ga on Captain's old MEC 600jr.

No loading tomorrow. Got to tie jigs and flies for fly fishing for crappie Sunday. But, I am planning on stainless pin tumbling 700 7.62x51 brass to get ready to load.

Well I started in on this tonight, hard to tell from the pic but almost half a 5-gallon bucket of 9mm, no idea how many thousands it is.

I had quit loading 9mm back years ago, it was EVERYWHERE and so CHEAP, it didn't seem worth it, but then the YoMama Abomination changed all that, so I have been back into it since then.

Probably my least favorite caliber to load. Small components and big fingers, but I shoot quite a bit of it. Got a late start tonight but cranked out 500 this evening, no discernible dent in the case bucket! I will hit her again tomorrow.

Primed 329 7.62x51 brass that I previously prepped and stainless steel pin tumbled over the weekend. Got about another 400 to prime before the loading begins.

Got to test some of my hand loads today. Tried filling some 380 XTPs with gasket maker to see if they expand more reliably through 4 layers of denium. The short is it didn't work shooting through denium into water jugs.

The one on left is straight into water jugs. The other two are through 4 layers of denium and into water jugs.

More details on the What Did You Shoot Today thread.

The gasket maker added 0.22 gr measured across a 10 bullet average. That's about the same as the polymer type of a FTX. I'm just a little disappointed in the initial results.

@rigrat You asked, so here it is. I based my loading on Allients load guide and Hornady's Handbook of Cartridge Reloading 10th Ed. Still working on perfection. This was 4 1 gr of BE-86, Fed. GM100M small pistol match primers, 0.961 OAL, mixed once fired brass, and gasket maker filled Hornady 90 gr XTP.

Thanks I get home I want to run it through Quickload and see how much room is left pressure wise.
Might be a little wiggle room as Alliant is known to be conservative. Alliant's max charge was the 4.1 gr of BE-86 I was shooting with a minimum OAL of 0.94 inches. Let me know what Quick load says. My velocities, 893 fps, were out of 2.75 inch barrel LCP. Alliant velocities were from a 3.75 inch barrel yielding 1038 fps.

Since RigRat is over the water right now or somewhere........I looked it up. Curiosity I guess gets to me. BE-86 is not in Quickload but it’s sister powder (power pistol) is. Chart for reference

Yep on the water. Thanks for looking that up. I would think with the Bullseye might could get a little more umph out of that short barrel.

I wasn’t going to push a powder change on him but I’d definitely move. Bullseye is my go to for pistol powder, after that is unique and HP-38

Yeah I like bullseye myself but w231 and AA#2 is very comparable to it also. I just like faster powder for very short barrels. Unless its 38 special and I'm going for the old FBI loading then its 2400 powder.

@Ellis93 , thanks for the info. Yes, that is about the burn rate of BE-86. Alliant Unique might be even closer in burn rate thou Alliant specially states than the load data is not interchangeable. My understanding is Alliant wanted a cleaner burning powder than Unique that would have flash suppressant additives. Something that would complement Bullseye and PowerPistol.

Hope this is useful @rigrat .
