Where did you find the 45 Cowboy Special brass? Please post a picture of your ammo.

.
Trimmed my own from 45 brass. Its a hair long so I can trim it whenever I get a 45 acp trim die. Some of my 45 brass has a line around it just slightly longer than 45spl length. I take a small tubing cutter and cut it off then chaffer inside and out. I'm loading 200 gr swc only mold I have. Going to buy a 160 rf mold from Lee to use. But I'm thinking of going to Schofield brass instead.

Get ya a pic in a minute.

Here you go. Flanked by 45 colt. Trying 3 grains Clays for a light Cowboy load. In the second pic you can see it compared to a loaded 45 acp round. Like I said not perfect but close enough.

Made a dummy round to plunk my new SA 1911 Mil-Spec. Using plated 230 gr RNs, it appears 1.250 is about right. Have 50 cases (spp) sized and ready to load with Titegroup.

Got a nice surprise today while inventorying. Borrowed son-in-law’s Kimber in 45ACP a couple years ago. Forgot I had made up some rounds. Found about 200 loaded with HP38 and Titegroup. Need a range day!

Yes, I finally got me some Cowboy 45 Spl brass. :p :p :p
I have had a few people put out feelers for this brass since March, with no luck.

The only difference between 45 Spl and 45 AR is the rim thickness. You will notice the 45 AR rim is much thicker to compensate for the lack of moon clips.

Tonight I loaded 50rds of Cowboy 45 Spl with 250gr RNFP bullets just to see. They load easy and are cute little boogers.

I just HOPE they feed OK through rifles.......................

Loaded a few 230 gr RN test rounds in 45 ACP using TiteGroup and HP 38. Yesterday at the McHenry range, I got 830 FPS with 4.8 gr of TG and 800 with 5 gr of HP38. I really like the way this 1911 shoots. At 10 yds everything was about 2” left and 1” low but it grouped well. Ready to load more for another range trip.
