I am looking into buying another AR type rifle and don't know which one to choose.
I had a Bushmaster XM-15 that was fairly accurate but it felt really loose like an AK.
Just felt like it was cheap but I sold it and made around $200 from it.
Checked the prices on bushmaster and they are more expensive than armalite.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Wish I could contribute something here and send you down the right path - but I can't! Seems like there are people who like one manufacture over another - some hate Colts; some luv 'em! Same with any of the manufactures. All I have ever owned were Colts and Bushmasters so I have had no experience with the others.

I owned one Colt back in the early 80s that gave me problem after problem. However, the one I have now is flawless!! Currrently own three Bushmasters and have only encountered one problem. The bolt carrier key screw worked loose -- easy to fix and all is well. The reason I keep buying the Bushmaster is the price!

PS: I rarely shoot commercial ammo; always my reloads.

I am thinking on buying the armalite. Colt is a little pricey for me and I have owned the Bushmaster. The bushmaster was accurate but I don't believe it is worth the price tag they have on it. Last I checked it ran about $1250. I only payed $800 for the one I had.

pm subgunfan and see what He thinks...

He's also in the process of building a bunch of AR's and might sell you one

I've had a Bushy and liked it ...no problems.....sold it like a DA

Currently have a S&W M&P 15T that works well....they are often overlooked...good gun with all the rails, flip sites and stuff

My next AR "most likely" will be an AR-10..I'm in love with anything .308 Winchester

I'm no AR Guru, but have owned Colt, Bushmaster, Stag Arms and Rock River.

Colt: Fit and finish were great, excellent but I ended up selling because people wanted them more than I did. A bit over priced in my opinion, but.... they are excellent! ( I might add I have a personal distaste for Colt though) :confused2:

Bushmaster: Use to be all I ordered, excellent rifle all the way around! Never had one problem with my two. Can't go wrong here either. Never really checked distance accuracy though, 25 yards was about all I shot with those.

Stag Arms: I think these rifles are largely overlooked for some reason. The fit and finish are excellent, much nicer than the Bushy's I've ordered for folks even! They function perfect and are plenty accurate for my marksmanship! And the owner is great to deal with!!

Rock River Arms: Currently my choice. Only hiccup was due to my reloads at one time. :wallbash: VERY accurate rifles!!! I have to admit.... I switched over mainly after a long visit with Bird (Walter Birdsong) one lazy afternoon at his place. If I could have recorded that conversation, I think everyone I played it for would swap to RRA. :cool2g: My favorite (for now) is one Bird did in Tan and Brown for me. I doubt that one will ever leave me. I have had nothing but great dealings with them since that day. Excellent product, very accurate and great people to deal with! They helped me immensely during my researching a AR SBR 9mm build. And my 7" upper just shipped from them yesterday!!!!

Never owned a DPMS, but have mixed emotions about them. Friend of mine on one agency had issues with theirs and don't know if they ever got them all resolved. That is the only instance I have heard of problems with them though. I have another friend that has one, functions flawlessly and is very accurate. To me the fit & finish leaves a bit to be desired, at least with the older ones. Maybe they have gotten better on that though.

Built a couple on CMMG parts a while back. Much better quality than I was really expecting to be honest. Feedback has been good on them although I haven't personally shot or seen them in action.

Bottom Line: I think you would be pleased with most of the ones named. Personally, I will have RRA from now on. For the money I think that is the way to go. I don't see the value added for the price on the higher end ones such as Sabre, POF, etc etc.

My vote goes for Rock River!!
