This question is for all you hard cases out there that claim you carry 1911's as your daily ccw. How do you carry a medium frame revolver ( S&W model 66) or 1911? What is the best inside the belt holster and belt? How can I COMFORTABLY carry a 1911 or Glock 21?

Comfortably it's an LCP. I carry an XD40 subcompact, it's not too bothersome, but I wouldn't call it comfortable. The largest I've carried is an XD9 Service.

To carry the service I wore a beltman belt with a sidearmor IWB. The XD40 SC I carry in a leather blackhawk slide holster with a wilderness instructor. My LCP I carry in a desantis Nemesis in my pocket, by far the most comfortable, but it's only a .380.

Depends on 3 things...

Your body shape and size

The type of holster

The concealment garment

I always enjoyed this vid

I have a UBG Bonneville that I carry a 1911 OWB and a UBG Canute that I use IWB. I have the same holsters for my Sig p220.
A good belt is the key in either case.
It's easier this time of year because I can usually wear a jacket or untucked shirt. Once summer hits, that changes my carry options.

I pocket carry a S&W 642 most of the time. I've worn a walther PPS IWB and pocket. Sometimes I carry my dan wesson 14-2 2.5" IWB (its about the size of a S&W 66.

A 1911 is about as slim as my PPS. If I trained enough using a gun with external safety I'd have no problems comfortably carrying a 1911 IWB. For me its more about width than barrel length and a 1911 is just the right width.

If you are having issues try buying some pants sized 1-2 sizes larger than you normally wear and get a good belt. You should be good to go then.

I don't do the IWB, just too uncomfortable for me. I can and do wear a 4" GP 100 or a S&W Mdl 28 OWB very easily. I wear them in a high rise or cross draw holster. Can't do it with just a T shirt, but any other cover garment works ok. Just gotta dress around the gun. Any small framed revo is easy. The key for me is a good belt, and a high rise holster. May not work for you, but it's another option you can consider.

It's not the most fashionable piece of equipment, but there are many decent looking fanny packs that can carry many mid sized pistols... Its great if you wanna go for that out of town look ;)
You can also get a custom-made shirt saying "I've got a gun"

:lol3:
Those only come in Hawaiian print right???

I carry a Kimber "compact" cdp II everyday in a beltman with msvm2 holster. 4" of 1911 is still not small even on an officer frame!

However I got in my crossbreed supertuck today. So now I'm attempting to graduate to a full size! Wearing it right now with 8+1 in my High Standard and I gotta say...it feels great!!!!!!! Straight out of the package it's More comfy than my msvm2. I haven't started to mess with the can't yet. But the stock position hide pretty well in old navy cargo shorts and a tshirt...not perfect but close...I'll play with it more tomorrow. Sitting down watching tv right now and I can hardly tell it's there! Way more comfy while sitting than my vm2. I'll try it out in the open tomorrow and get back to you though!

I had a chance to ask Dick Marcinko (Rouge Warrior author) once what was the best carry gun. He said he carried a Glock 26. He said up close a 9mm is fine. He also said to train shooting at 21 feet or less under stress. I wished I'd asked what kind of holster he used.
Dick Marcinko spent his whole adult life training to kill people and brake things. I don't have that kind of time or opportunity. I believe in his KISS principal (Keep It Simple Stupid). I would like to buy a Taurus model 617. Seven shot .357 snubby. It's a revolver so simple and reliable with a 158 grain bullet that can do the job big time. The only problem is it weighs 28 ounces empty. So a good leather belt and holster in important.

I dont have a problem carrying a xd sc everyday in a supertuck. All my pants are 1 size bigger so i can wear thermals in the winter and supertuck in the summer.
If its cold enough all day i can wear a jacket, ill carry my xd service 40 in my gcode holster.

I carry a springer "loaded" full size 1911 in a don hume PCCH with no problems. I never thought of myself as a hardcase though...figured if I was a hardcase I wouldnt need to carry a gun.

Carrying a firearm is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable.

The largest handgun I have carried is my RIa full size bobtail .45. I carry it in a Supertuck or a Tucker "the secret" . Neither is overly comfortable. I much prefer to carry my Keltec PF9 in the same Tucker holster. Almost as comfortable is the Glock 26 I have but haven't found a holster that I really like for it yet.
