We were moving some old barn roof tin Monday because the Missus said it looked "snakey." Well when I lifted up the last piece there was a big fat cottonmouth coiled up under it! Sucker had a big old head that me & Glock 17 quickly separated from the body. I fired 4 more shots into it "because cottonmouth". The head was still trying to bite.

that's a mud snake and endangered species in ms iirc. I've never seen one in the wild, just stuffed at the science museum. I have heard of folks finding them around the rez. harmless crawdad eater. all this rain probably got it moving.
Hard to see pics good on my phone. It is a mud snake.

Sounds more like target practice.
