My birthday is coming up and I was talking to my brother tonight about guns and he has decided to buy me another 1911 for my birthday next week (Bday actually in Feb). Some of you may recall he bought me that Springfield Loaded Stainless for Christmas. So he made me a couple of offers.

1st. He will buy me a RIA 1911

or

2nd. He really would like to have the Springfield, so he is offering me any gun I want, up to $1100.00 if I give him the Springfield.

Would you just take the RIA or buy the more expensive gun? And which 1911 would you buy if you had $1100 to spend as a bday present? I was doing a little research on Colts (Very little at this point) and cant find much thats better than the Springfield. (End that with "In that price range")

Well on gunbroker right now he could get a Loaded Stainless for $815 for himself and get you a RIA for $369 from Centerfire Systems for a total of $1185  That way he gets the Springfield he wants, you get a Rock and get to keep your Springfield.

P.S. Do your parents want to adopt me?

Do you guys need another brother? I like most guns, fast cars, old guitars, and am usually willing to throw the first punch on my brothers behalf in most situations. I'm also willing to come over on short notice to fix broken water lines and things like that. Let me know

Jokes aside, I've got a Loaded Stainless and I just bought a Metroarms 1911 plain-jane. I'm afraid to do too much to the Loaded, but the Metroarms is cheap enough that I'm going to play around with it (beavertail safety, extended controls, etc).

The Metro is from the Phillipines and I've fired about 100 rounds of reloads through it and it has yet to FTF or FTE like everyone told me it would.

So if you're wanting a basic 1911 while keeping the Loaded, I'd go with option 1 and tell your bro to find his own Loaded.

That's my :2c:

After doing some research I decided to keep my Loaded Stainless, I would be really lucky to ever get another one for what I paid for it. Instead of an RIA I decided to go with a Metro Arms American Classic 1911 Deluxe II. (Anyone here own one?) It gets really good reviews and out of the box comes with:

“Novak” style fixed, three-dot dovetailed sights
Extended magazine release button.
Extended slide stop.
Extended single-sided speed thumb safety.
Extended and widened beavertail grip safety.
Skeletonized Colt Commander type hammer.
Long steel trigger with over-travel stop.
Flat, grooved mainspring housing.
Slightly extended ejector, lowered and scalloped ejection port.
Italian “ACT” 8-round magazine (private branded by Novak’s .45 Shop)

Here is an older review on this particular gun

Most of what I have read on the different 1911 forums about the Metro Arms 1911 has been positive. They also make the Firestorm 1911 for Bersa.
Just curious, why did you pick it over a RIA tatical, it has the same features?
