I'm doing some trading trying to get some money together for a project.
I may end up with a Norinco Mak-90 Sporter with the thumbhole stock that comes with 3 mags and is in a nylon case with individual pouches for the mags on the outside. It is about as new looking as it could be. The current owner says he has fired a few rounds through it over the years but you couldn't tell it. What do y'all think?

This is what it looks like...

That is about what they are being listed on Gunbroker for -- but, I do not see many actually selling!! I have one and really like it ... it shoots fairly well .. will eat anything I put through to to include cast boolits.

That's what I was seeing, too. I have it at home but he hasn't decided to make the trade yet. If he does I'll probably offer it here for $400 and see what happens. At the worst, I'll have a nice "projectile delivery system"!
The more I read about it, the more I like it. Compared to the standard AK, it has a thicker barrel and 50% thicker receiver and like Cap said, it's supposed to eat anything.

I have two at this time wouldn't mind another one at some point. As far as AK's go I think they are underated. I'd take another one in a heart beat. They do eat anything you give them. Chromed bolt, Chrome lined barrel, and lose the thumb hole stock. I put a Tapco rear and pistol grip on one with the tapco G2 trigger. I like it a lot.

The composite stocks definitely give it a much better look. I like the looks of the Dragunov stock myself. Wish the seller would make up his mind about it. It's still sitting here by my recliner and he still hasn't decided to trade. :pullhair:

I really don't like even the Drugunov stock. As far as shooting it's good, but for a compact fighting it's not. A friend took and mounted a side folder on his with Suarez bar on the folder (which actually allows a cheek weld), and he mounted an Aimpoint up front. To me that maximizes the AKs strengths while addressing its weaknesses.
