Considering an affordable (under $500) compact/sub-compact 9mm for concealed and vehicle use. Wondered which y'all prefer or recommend?

None of the Above, I would get a Sig P229 CPO pistol. You can find them for $500 maybe $550. If had to choose from the list I would go with the Springfield.

I've owned glocks for 21 years never a hic-up out of any of them. The main reason i like them thay are easier to conceal than a 12ga.

Stay away from the keltecs unless you just want it for plowing purposes cuz past about 7 yards I've never shot one that would even touch paper

I owned a Kel-Tec PF9. I never had a problem with it and, yes, they will hit paper past 7 yards.

However, the poll is not really fair. They are 2 different classes.

As a side note, I have seen ads for an xD(M) compact. That would be my vote. I will have one!

I like the Walther PPS but they have been notorious for problems since they came out. I own multiple P99s and PPK's and other Walthers and am a huge Walther fan but I would avoid the PPS. Kel tec, Taurus, or Ruger P9C I would never ever reccomend as carry weapons. If you want more details I can go into it but for a carry gun you want the absolute most reliable gun, and as everyone knows whether they are not fans of Glocks are not, that Glocks are THE most reliable semi auto handgun produced. I have 9 right now and never had a problem with any of them, they will eat any kind of ammo no matter how cheap it is and will ALWAYS go bang when you pull the trigger. Check out glocktalk.com.

Glock 26 is THE cc weapon for a 9mm. I've never had a single issue and it's very accurate for it's size. The 33 rnd mags are nice to have around too

I use my Keltec PF9 more for my carry than I do the Glock 26 I own. The Glock 26 being slightly thicker gets carried by my wife in her purse more than IWB by me.

If I could comfortable carry the Glock it would be my first choice.

glock 19 is my edc. I've held a 26 and it feels too small. The size difference between the two is negligible, imo.

Take a look at a Kahr. I don't think all of the models will meet the price point, but the CW series should. It's much thinner than the double stacks and more comfortable to carry for me. Capacity is down of course but I personally am ok with the tradeoff. Just something else to consider.

I voted for the springfield XD.
You may want to consider a CZ75, I have heard/read good things about them and they are in your price range

...once I finally decide that non 1911 pistols are worth buying I may get one after I get an XD
