    Want to borrow:
Talking to a buddy at work and we have decided to smoke a whole pig. He can take care of everything else, just need something big enough to do it on. Pig size 30-200ish pounds. Just curious if anyone has something could borrow or rent out. No rush on when. Thanks guys

Guys at the deer camp use concrete blocks around a shallow hole in the ground and tin.
Anything more high flaunting than that, IDK.

Yeah thinking that's prob best/easiest route to take, just building something off the ground

BIL has something like this, with a tin top to hold smoke in better

  5. If you want to bbq it, what bubbat is showing is just right
if you want to smoke it.
that cinder block box needs to be closed in

A vertical smoker is option. Question? you mentioned 30 to 200 lb, bit of difference o_O.
Besides 30# hog not big enough to feed us all:D.

Looks gonna have to round up some c blocks.

Ha no worries. Gonna be a work get together in the future some time.

Yeah it is. He just said he would supply the pig, anywheres from 30-200#. I told him I would work on the cooking apparatus.

    Wow that's awesome man! Thanks

I have used the setup bubbat posted, it works really well. The pork just falls off the bones. Only problem is you have to stay up all night with it, it takes a lot of charcoal, perseverance, and beer.

The day has finally come, well bright and early in the am. Will take more pics tomorrow and post Sunday when on wifi. ~50# pig/30# of meat for trial run tomorrow. Twice as big one for the real deal next weekend. That is if all goes as planned tomorrow.

    Looking good.

Down the road, you might try a couple sheets of tin to use for the top.

    When do we eat?

Still got about 6ish hours left. Thought about Tin but didn't have any. Wanted to stick with materials had on hand. Good thing about this is it doesn't get so hot you can't use top as a table.

Good looking pig! Does anybody have or remember the Cajun microwave? It was a wooden box with a metal tray for a top. Put the pig or whatever in the box and build the fire on top. Works like a pit barbecue.
