I have a mod. 70... w/ weaver 4X scope... w/ hooded front sight, no rear sight... serial # 118XXX sez it was made in '49... lands and grooves appear in good condition, minor blemishes on stock. no unusual wear, bolt action is tight. It isn't marked as a super grade, original sling in good shape...
With all these things considered... what would be a fair asking price... in general ?... Honestly don't know.

Would love to see a couple of pictures as I am not familiar with this rifle.

boomer, you have a wonderful piece of winchester history, hold on to that rifle, use it from time to time, and think about your dad when you use it, i inherited several model 70's from my great grandad, one being a pre war (1941) model 70 super grade 22 hornet..... i do use it for plinking and crow and coyote hunting on pretty days, there could never be a price on it, some say i am to sentimental in that regard, i say i am just a caretaker of what my grandad loved, and i intend to pass it down to the next generation of my family, they are just well made firearms..... jmo.
