In 2006 I purchased a Harrison & Richardson Garand from CMP. I remember posting a picture of it on the CMP Board asking a question about it. The serial number was showing and the serial number got recorded by a guy on the CMP board that maintained a list of serial numbers along with who owned it - using CMP board screen names. Well, about a month ago I received a PM from a CMP board member from Ohio stating - "I see you got HRA Garand serial number XXX0033; I have XXX0032 - would you interested in selling it?" I responded back that I had made pledge to myself that I would never sell another gun but he kept insisting he "needed" my Garand. In the meantime I pulled the Garand out of the safe and noticed that it still had some of the packing grease on it -- guess I never shot this one. It was run of the mill mixmaster -- nothing special. I sent him a message back saying I had not real attachment to the Garand and it was just a regular mixmaster with a Springfield bolt and operating rod and some other manufacture parts mixed in. The stock was solid with no really bad "character marks." I told him I would NOT sell it; BUT I may be interested in trading for a '03 or 1917. He contacted me stating he had just the thing - a 1903A3 that he had built some years back from a Remington receiver. It had a NOS barrel that had 5 rounds down it ... had put it into new wood ... reparked and reblued all the metal. We exchanged pictures and the deal was done - even trade!! Here are some pictures of my NEW 1903A3 ..
Now he has a pair of consecutive serial number Garands and I have a NEW '03 for the safe!! Does not get much better than this!!
