Here is an alternative source for a gas or diesel engine. I know it's been around a long time, but I think is a survival situation older technology is what most people will have to resort to. I think most of us would have a hard time if the lights went out tomorrow. Even the people that are prepared will still need some power to put there plans into effect. Gas is just one of the things that is not a long term storage item and will probably be the first to go.

I've been thinking real hard for about build a gasifier for a small generator, if nothing else I think it would be a cool conversation piece.

Very interesting. I've been reading up on gasification. It seems like a relatively simple do-it-yourself job that could be very beneficial.
