Not only did he have to google what was a Microtech OTF, most of the rest of us also had to google what LMGTFY meant...
phillipd, Microtech is a US knife company mainly known for it's push button, side folding and slider operated out the front automatic knives. Their knives average around $300, larger ones like the Combat Troodon and Halo in the $500's range. Customs up into the thousands.
Monkey Edge - The Finest in Custom Knives and Gear
They are widely known for poor customer service (bladeforums good,
bad and ugly threads prominent) and due to the fact that their knives utilize proprietary hardware (often triangular shaped screw heads...of varying size with each iteration) any repair work must be done by the factory.
True story, I once purchased one of these to try out. Notice the proprietary hardware.
On my second time carrying it, I accidentally bent the pocket clip outwards at a 90 degree angle by catching it on a lawn chair, and was unable to bend it back to shape with out being able to remove the clip. I sent it back to microtech and it wound up "missing". They claimed I mailed them an empty box and I was just at a complete loss. My fault for not insuring the package, and for buying from microtech. Lesson learned and I have refused to give them any business ever since. I would recommend benchmade if you are looking for an automatic knife, from a US company, with excellent materials, fit and finish as well as squared away customer service.
Best of luck.
