Re: mel luna saw

Well, I went there (Mel Luma) about 5 years ago in search of some parts for an old Stihl chain saw that somebody had given me.

(I had searched the internet and found that "Stihl parts are ONLY available from authorized Stihl dealers.")

Mel Luma was the closest Stihl dealer so I went there and asked about the parts.

I was treated worse than I have ever been treated in a small gun shop.

The guy behind the counter sneered and said condescending, "That saw is more than 10 years old."

I said, "Yeah, but Stihl saws are supposed to last forever."

He said, "We don't even have a listing for parts for saws over 10 years old. But I'll sell you a new saw."

I said, "Fat chance on that", and left and have not been back and won't.

Glad you guys have had good experiences, but sorry to say I didn't.

PS: I eventually made the saw run without his factory parts.

Re: mel luna saw

dang......thats rough...speaking of making stuff run...
i learned this from a mechanic in franklin co....that primer bulb on the side of a chain saw, weed eatter, lawn mower. etc leave it alone! pretend it does not exist.....all it does is make your engine flood out...wont start.
so you gotta pull the cord 3 times instead of 1....
recipe for cranken a stubbern weed eater
put on full choke
pull till it burps
set to half choke, pull to start
let it warm up set to run
if..you do mess up and flood it out
pull the spark plug and shoot compressed air in cylinder to evaperate gas
replace plug and put on full choke..till it burps

Re: mel luna saw

They're great people alright. Back in 06 the next year after Katrina we had another hurricane that might be coming our way & everyone was in a panic state.  I had been wanting a small Honda generator since before Katrina & with the posabilty of another on the way I figured it was time to get one. I got the phone book down & look. Top of the list for Honda generators mel Luna. I give them a call & the nice guy answers the phone & I tell him what I'm looking for. He says they just sold their last one but they have 10 more on the way in a day or two would I like to get on a waiting list for one them. At that time you could buy the one I wanted for about 900$ they're not much more than that today. So I say I might be interested how much do you want for it & he says 2000$ & I need you to bring a deposit that afternoon. Well I politely told him he could go play with himself. If you know what I mean. He ask me what my problem was & when I proceeded to tell him he hangs up on me. If they go out of business tomorrow ain't soon enough for me. I got no use for people who take advantage of other people cause they can whether it's generators, gas, food, guns, & ammo.  Sorry is just plain sorry! Oh I think the hurricane went another direction & I got my generator the next spring for 900$.
